Match Reports from 9th March

9th  March 2013

Wigginton Grasshoppers returned to winnings ways in the York Minster Engineering Premier League with a 2-1 win at  Terrington Glory. Jordan Grosse headed the hosts into an early lead but before the break Lee McQuade had restored parity. A Lee Stewart penalty midway through the second half for Wigginton proved to be the winning goal. A penalty also decided a feisty affair between Copmanthorpe and Rowntrees as Cop keeper Ben Sheenhan converted his fourth penalty of the season with virtually the last kick of the game as Cop won 1-0. Dringhouses extended their unbeaten run to 7 games after they drew 1-1 at Riccall, after a goal less first hour the   deadlock was eventually broken with a Wayne Brooke penalty with Dave Watson levelling for Dringhouses ten minutes later.

It proved to be a excellent day for promotion chasing St Clements in Division One as they defeated top of the table Aviva 2-0 and their other two main rivals in the promotion race both lost 2-0.  Mike Heels gave the Saints the lead before the break and a last minute goal from Scott Nicholas condemned league leaders Aviva to their second consecutive 2-0 home defeat. Second in the table Malton & Norton suffered their first defeat in six games as they conceded two second half goals to Pocklington to lose 2-0. Pocklington’s last league win at Malton & Norton was in March 2006. Mathematically White Horse could still take the title but a  third away defeat on the trot has not helped their cause as they lost 2-0 at in-form Tockwith. James Neville put the home side in front on 20 minutes and Tockwith’s eighth game without a defeat was rubber-stamped with a late Graham Hutchinson goal.

F1 Racing took a big stride towards promotion in Division Three after they defeated third-in-the-table Barmby Moor while second placed Bishop Wilton were held to a 2-2 home draw by Civil Service.  F1 Racing now have the luxury of a six point lead at the top of the table following their comfortable 5-2 home win over promotion rivals Barmby Moor. The two sides clashed in the Junior Cup last week which was decided with a penalty shoot-out in F1’s favour but the hosts were determined to take maximum points as they raced into a three goal lead before the break courtesy of a Neil Yeowart hat-trick and a 10th straight league win was confirmed in the second period with a George Trifian brace.  Bishop Wilton’s promotion hopes are beginning to falter as they failed to win for the third game on the trot despite leading through goals from John Nattrass and Charlie Bond in their home encounter with Civil Service. The visitors have not lost to Bishop Wilton in their last six meetings and they extended their run as they salvaged a point with goals from Carl Barker and an own goal as the sides drew 2-2 and Civil Service recorded their first away draw in 14 games.  A goal in each half, the first from Ben Jones, the second from John Hayden earned Ouseburn a 2-0 home win over Huby and ensured a 12th game without a win for the visitors whose last success was against Ouseburn. Crayke’s mini-revival was ended as they lost 5-1 at home to Selby Olympia, James Robinson hit the only goal for the home side.

Church Fenton White Horse maintained their unbeaten home record for the season in Reserve B with a 5-2 win over York St Johns and now need just one more win from their remaining three games to be crowned as Champions. The students started well and led with goals from Tom Parry and James Long but the hosts eventually replied and won with goals from Danny Martin (2) Danny Graham (2) and Kyle Hesling.

Having already secured the Reserve C Championship title Malton & Norton were focused on remaining unbeaten throughout the entire season but they paid the penalty for missing a hatful of first half chances as they lost 2-1 at struggling Wilberfoss. Jono Parkin gave Foss the lead at the break but Callum Holmes came off the bench at the break to level the scores before Wilberfoss secured a notable victory with a cracking goal from Chris Allen. The win sees Wilberfoss move out of the relegation zone.

St Clements late push for promotion continues to gather momentum in Reserve D as they chalked up their fifth straight win with a 4-2 home victory over Huby. Simon Hogbin cancelled out Ricky Mizzi opener for the Saints but further goals from Adam Harrison, Joe Hamilton and Chris Grimes ensured St Clements the points, Jimmy Turton hit a late second goal for Huby.

In the Junior Cup Division Four side Huntington FC put in a spirited performance before going down 3-2 away at Division Two side Stamford Bridge. The hosts though were never behind and scored through Nick Rank (2) and Greg Ashcroft.

There were no major surprises in the Reserve Cup though Reserve A side York RI were pushed all the way by Reserve C side Thorpe Utd but they edged through with a  2-1 victory with goals from Danny Cates and Collen Cumnings. Andy Rose scored four of Dunnington’s goals in their 8-0 win at Bishopthorpe with  their remaining goals from, Simon Castle, Kent Mayo and Ross Wilkinson (2).

Amotherby & Swinton entertained fellow Reserve B side Heslington having drawn both league encounters earlier this season but it was Amotherby & Swinton who booked their place in the next round with a 4-2 win with goals from Joe Bulmer,   Danny Foxton, Adam Gray and Matty Bean.  Two weeks ago Cliffe and F1 Racing shared the spoils in a Reserve D fixture but a Toby Bodycombe hat-trick ensured that Cliffe would be flying the flag for the basement Division as they won 4-1, Nigel Horner added the fourth Cliffe goal.

There will be vacancies for both First Teams and Reserves teams for the  2013-14 season in the York Minster Engineering Football League and all interested parties should contact the League Secretary Mr Peter Gibson on York 796765.

Mr Gibson is also looking to retire from his post as League Secretary having served local football admirably for many years not only as League Secretary but in many other capacities, again,  anyone interested should contact Mr Gibson direct on the above number.

Reports from 9th March

9th  March 2013

Wigginton Grasshoppers hopes of lifting the York Minster Engineering Premier League title took yet another knock as they failed to score for the third successive home game as they lost 3-0 at home to Dringhouses. Craig McShane headed Dringhouses in front and before the break Dave Watson had doubled their lead.  A Javier Shepherd header confirmed a third consecutive home defeat for the Grasshoppers.
Old Malton chalked up a fifth straight win in style as they hammered Easingwold 11-0 which include five goals from Dean Nuttall. The Ryedale tally was completed with a hat-trick from Jon Newton, a Darren Dunning brace and Dave Wilson who started the rout with the opening goal.

The Poppleton revival continues as they recorded back-to-back away wins for the first time since September 2011 following their comfortable 5-0 win at Rowntrees. Nick Moss set them on their way with their opener after 18 minutes before Joe Dale,  scoring for the sixth game on the trot, scored twice in each half.

Two goals from Dave Heron helped Riccall to defeat Huntington Rovers for the first time in five attempts, Gary Collier and Danny Rodwell completed the Riccall scoring as they won 4-0.

Since Terrington Glory’s 15 match unbeaten away run finished they have failed to collect a point from their last three trips, the latest defeat was at the hands of hosts York RI who won 6-4. Lee Powell’s opener for RI was cancelled out by Ben Richardson before Carl Shepherd restored the home sides lead before the break.  In the second period Nick Hartley and a Craig Atkinson penalty extended RI’s lead and though the visitors responded through Andrew Park, Powell completed his hat-trick with Dave Bradshaw and Chris Leadham getting late goals for  Terrington. Selby RSSC achieved their first home win of the season as they thumped Hamilton Panthers 5-2. The Selby side raced into a five goal lead through Louis Blackwell (3),  Matty Muscroft and Dave Hullah before Panthers replied through Jonathon Ellis and Danny Farthing.

Amotherby & Swinton’s George Moore scored for the fourth game on the bounce when he put his side in front at home to Division One leaders Aviva but on the stroke of half-time Carl Barbero levelled for Aviva and after the restart Warren Lowe headed the visitors in front and Mark Benton  wrapped up the scoring as Aviva won 3-1. White Horse suffered their second successive defeat as they went down 1-0 at St Clements, Scott Nicholas scoring the only goal of the game. The defeat leaves the Church Fenton side needing maximum points from all their games in hand to mount a serious challenge for Promotion.

Sporting Knavesmire pushed their unbeaten home run to 5 games in Division Three as they beat Civil Service 4-2. Andrew Simpson with his fifth goal in as many games put Sporting in front with George Wilson doubling their lead, the visitors responded with goals from Chris Smith and Glen Thompson but late goals from Ali Brown and Tom Wilson confirmed the win for the hosts.  Two weeks ago Crayke celebrated their first away win in 14 games and they have followed that with their first home victory in 12 as they came from a goal down to beat Ouseburn 2-1. Mark Aconley turned the ball into his own net to put the visitors in front but Matty Dixon came off the bench to equalise and their first home win since December 2011 was confirmed five minutes from time by James Robinson.   Despite a Steve Gagen hat-trick Rufforth suffered their first home defeat in four games as they conceded three late goals to lose 5-4 to Selby Olympia. James Everhard hit Rufforth’s other goal.

In the only Division Four fixture to go ahead League leaders York Acorn confirmed their promotion to Division Three with a hard earned 3-1 win over Selby Town Res. Lee Jacobs hit their opener with an excellent volley into the top corner with Leigh Dutton adding a goal either side of the break for the Acorns, Kyle Wilks replied for Selby.

Defending Reserve A Champions Dunnington edged a step closer to retaining their title as they hit five past York RI for the second time this season.  Andy Rose,  who hit a hat-trick in the 5-1 win in September hit yet another to add to goals from Matty Phail and Dan Hall

The top-of-the-table clash in Reserve B went in favour of the League leaders and hosts White Horse who defeated Easingwold Town 4-3. The visitors goals were shared between Jordan Green, Andrew Metcalfe (Snr) and John Dey. Pocklington salvaged a point from their trip to Bishopthorpe as they snatched an equaliser two minutes from time as they drew 3-3, Andy Segas, James Mackie and Graham Vickers were all on target for Bish, it was Pocklington’s first away draw in 16 games, their last away draw was October 2011, at Bishopthorpe. Heslington eased their relegation worries as they ended an eight match winless run with a victory over York St Johns. The students led with goals from James Long and Daniel Tingay but a first home win of the season was secured for Heslington as they hit back to win 5-2 with a brace each for Shaun Allen and Alex Sutherland and one from Danny Topping. Amotherby are still looking for their first away win of the season after they recorded their fourth away draw of the campaign as they shared the points with Aviva in a 2-2 draw. Ross Turnbulls’ opening goal for the home side was cancelled out by Tom Everett and though Geoff Pinkney restored the lead for Aviva,  Adam Gray levelled for Amotherby ten minutes from time.

Jim Darlison hit a hat-trick for Selby RSSC as they remain on track for promotion from Reserve C at the first time of asking following their 4-1 win at Stamford Bridge. Kyle Pool added their fourth with Jamie Rank replying for Stamford. The Selby side were helped by the other results in the Division as two of their promotion challengers both suffered defeats, Poppleton held Champions-elect Malton & Norton to a goal-less opening half but succumbed in the second period as Branden Read hit a hat-trick to add to goals from Adam Cooke, Ed Marwood and Curtis Pickering as Poppleton lost 6-0. Third in the table Rowntrees led at Thorpe by a single Sean Stewart goal with 20 minutes remaining, but managed to lose 6-2. Byrom Summers led the turnaround has he netted three times in the final period to add to strikes from Dave Hawe, Adam Parnell and Greg Anderson and Stewart still had time to bag his second of the afternoon.

Reserve D leaders Civil Service extended their unbeaten home run to 9 games but they did it the hard way. Visitors Tadcaster Town led 2-0 and 3-1 before the break but eventually Civil Service took control to win 7-3 and need just one more win from their three remaining fixtures to secure at least promotion. Their goals were shared between Gareth Srain who took his tally for the season to 21 with his fourth hat-trick of the campiagn to add to goals from Ross Dixon, Mark Lund, Declan Parks and Ben Holding.  Ricky Mizzi helped to keep St Clements in the promotion race as he hit all his sides goals in their 3-1 win at Huby, Tom Horner replied for the hosts and Tom Dunning and Toby Bodycombe netted for Cliffe in their 2-1 home win over Rufforth.

In the Junior Cup the clash between two of the promotion chasing sides in Division Three needed penalties to decide the outcome after Barmby Moor scraped a 2-2 at F1 Racing with a last minute goal. Earlier George Trifan gave F1 an early lead with a penalty which was cancelled out a minute into the second period by the visitors, Neil Yeowart restored F1’s lead but only until the final minute as Barmby levelled again, however F1 Racing won the penalty shoot out 4-3. Cliffe,  fielding a side with four 16 years olds,  earned a Second Round tie with Crayke as a goal in each half, the first from Kev Taylor, the second from with a Chris Jackson penalty, accounted for Elvington Harriers 2-0 and Fulford FC Utd defeated Melbourne by the same 2-0 score line with their goals from Jordan Siswick and Sam Harrison.

Tadcaster Magnets met Thorpe Utd for the third week running and the result, just like the two previous league encounters went in Tadcaster ‘s favour, John Crawley, Andy Kitchen, Phil Smith and Ben Wilson were all on target as Taddy won 4-0.

Match Reports from 2nd March

2nd March 2013

The First Round of the League Cup competitions reduced the league programme to just a handful of fixtures.

In the only Premier League fixture Poppleton Utd picked up three useful points from their trip to Easingwold as they won 3-2 despite conceding an early goal to George Kirk.   Nick Moss levelled before the break but the hosts missed a crucial penalty before Jack Doyle gave Pop the lead,  Joe Dale scoring for the fifth game on the bounce,  made it 3-1 before Ben Tilley pulled a late goal back for Easingwold. Poppleton have now won on their last five visits to Easingwold.

In Division One Malton & Norton moved within a point of leaders Aviva after they won 4-3 at fellow promotion hopefuls White Horse. The hosts, defending an unbeaten home run of 15 games,  led at the break through a John Marshall penalty and a Chris Thompson goal and though Marcus Godsell reduced the arrears early into the second period,  a second goal of the game from John Marshall restored the Church Fenton sides two-goal cushion. The Ryedale side facing their first away defeat in 14 matches then mounted a magnificent come-back as Ryan Revis hit a hat-trick inside the final half hour to secure what seemed to be unlikely victory at the break,  for Malton & Norton. Amotherby & Swinton recorded their first away draw in 20 games after they conceded two late goals at Wilberfoss as they drew 2-2 with their hosts, a result which suits neither side as both teams battle to avoid relegation.  George Moore and Andy Phillips struck in the first half for Amotherby with Wilberfoss replying through Jed Vale and an own goal.

Tadcaster Magnets had little difficulty in extending their unbeaten home run to 22 games in the solitary Division Two fixture as they hammered Thorpe 6-0 with Phil Smith getting half his sides goals. Ben Wilson, Gary Simpson and John Crawley completed the rout for Taddy who defeated Thorpe only last week 5-1 to register their first double of the season.

Division Four had only one fixture but it produced an entertaining game with Selby Town Res snatching victory in the final minute as they beat visitors Wheldrake 4-3. Olly O’Neil’s opening brace for Selby was cancelled out before the break by Ben Webster and Ben Feathers and Martin Fielden then gave Wheldrake the lead for the first time in the match but Callum Roe- Dixon took his tally for the season into double figures with two late goals as Selby ended a four match winless run.

York RI defeated Riccall Utd 2-1 for the second time this season in Reserve A and virtually condemned Riccall to Reserve B football next season. After a goal-less first half RI struck twice through Danny Woods and Collen Cumnings with Brett Collier grabbing a very late consolation goal for Riccall. Dunnington pushed their unbeaten run to 25 games as they won 3-0 at Huntington.

The Reserve B fixture saw Heslington, without a home win this season entertain Tadcaster Magnets who were looking for their first away win of the campaign and the inevitable 2-2 draw proceeded, Rich Carroll and Mark Bilton bagged for Heslington.

Last week Malton & Norton celebrated promotion from Reserve C and this week, following their 3-0 home win over Hemingbrough they celebrated taking the Reserve C Championship, the title was secured with goals from Callum Holmes, Steve Hoggard, and an og. and they still remain unbeaten for the season with just three games to go.

Civil Service registered a notable double for the season as they defeated promotion chasing Crayke for the second time in a week in Reserve D. Luke Biham restored parity  after Gareth Srain gave Civil Service an early advantage but goals from Ross Dixon and Sean Corr eased Civil Service into a two goal lead, a Wayne Linton free kick halved the deficit but Ben Holding wrapped up the scoring as Civil Service won 4-2 to go top the table by five points.

St Clements hit hosts Bishop Wilton with three early goals in five minutes through Josh Johnson (2) and Tom Perkins but could only add a further goal from Adam Harrison as the Saints won 4-0. A Mark Foster equaliser five minutes from time salvaged a point for F1 Racing as they drew 1-1 at Cliffe, earlier Nathan Horner had converted a penalty to put Cliffe in front.

There were no major shocks in the First Round of the Senior League Cup though last seasons beaten finalists and York Minster Engineering Premier League leaders Dunnington,  needed a goal two minutes from time to account for Division One side Hemingbrough. Dunnington, who were meeting Hemingbrough for the third season running in this competition,  fell behind to a Darryl Tate goal but Scott Sullivan levelled before the break. A Tom Mathews penalty put the Premier League side in front and though Jon Wileman levelled, Dunnington booked their place in the next round with a very late winner from Tom Richards. Premier League strugglers Hamilton Panthers were able to forget their relegation problems for a week as they entertained Division One side Haxby and they raced into a three goal lead courtesy of goals from Josh Leeming, Mark Willoughby and new signing Darren Branden, the visitors rallied however with Mathew Wash scoring either side of the interval but Panthers held on to win 3-2.  York St Johns were another Premier League tested by a Division One side, with the students eventually beating Total Sports on a penalty shoot-out after the game finished 1-1, a late equaliser from Tom Robinson cancelled out Liam Wadsworth’s opener for the students. Alex Yates scored twice for Terrington Glory at Aviva as the Glory boys won 3-0, Jordan Grose completed the Terrington goals and Rowntrees hit three goals in the final three minutes at Pocklington as the Premier League side won 6-1. Dan Marshall (2) Andy Barrass, Paul Scaife, Kev Butler and Andy Barrett shared the Rowntrees tally with Dave O’Connor hitting Pocklington’s solitary reply.  Copmanthorpe keeper Ben Sheehan converted a second half penalty as Cop defeated Huntington 1-0, and Craig McShane struck a goal in each half for Dringhouses as they progressed into the next round with a 2-0 win at Selby RSSC. Riccall Utd came from 3-0 down  at home to York RI to eventually win 8-4, Tom Littlewood and Gary Collier both hit a treble for Riccall to add to goals from Wayne Brook and Dave Heron with Lee Powell and Mark Woodward sharing the RI total. The all-Division One tie between St Clements and Tockwith was settled with a penalty five minutes from time as Will Richmond successfully converted the spot kick to send Tockwith into the next Round. Earlier Graham Hutchinson had put Tockwith in front with Mike Heels equalising for the Saints.

The Junior Cup produced a couple surprises as the top two sides in Division Two were both beaten by clubs struggling in Division Three.  Division Two League leaders Osbaldwick travelled to Selby Olympia and conceded an equaliser two minutes from time to Connor Brewins and the Selby side triumphed in the penalty shoot-out. Rawcliffe,  currently unbeaten in 10 Division Two fixtures and sitting second in the Division Two table lost 3-1 at Division Three strugglers Crayke who only recorded their first win in 23 games last week. Jack Cartwright and Ian Dawson bagged for Crayke to add to an og. Division Four League Leaders York Acorn entertained Division Three side Sporting Knavesmire and led 2-1 courtesy of a an own goal and a  Connor Larner effort but the visitors snatched a late equaliser to send the game into penalties but Acorns prevailed and won the shoot-out 4-2. Danny Mason gave the 2011 winners Strensall the perfect start netting after just 30 seconds in their home tie with Heslington but the visitors levelled through John Pipe and won the tie with a late Lee Topping penalty. Alex Knockles scored the only goal of the game as Rufforth won 1-0 at Ouseburn and Michael Quinn hit a first half hat-trick for Civil Service in their 4-0 success at Moor Lane, James Windle added their fourth. Bishop Wilton hit nine unanswered goals past Huby for the second time this season, Tom Knowles (3) Charlie Bond (2),  Andrew Heath, Chris Beilby, Ted Donkin, and Rob Eels all featured in the rout. Division Four side LNER Builders put up a spirited performance before going down 3-2 at Division Two side Bishopthorpe, Tim Pattern, Joe Gardham and Ben Jones shared the Bish goals.

Reserve Cup Holders Wigginton Grasshoppers fell at the first fence in defence of their trophy as they lost 1-0 at Old Malton. The Ryedale side who were beaten by Wigginton in last seasons competition and who have failed to beat Grasshoppers in the league twice this campaign gained some revenge as Adam Newell hit the only goal of the game. Last seasons beaten finalists Reserve C side Strensall  are on the march again and they picked up another Reserve A side scalp as they beat Haxby 3-2 with two goals in the final five minutes to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 victory. Strensall led with a Danny Morrison free kick but Haxby responded with goals from Paul Holmes and Steve Martin before Strensall’s late late show started by Tom Wood and finished by John Cooper. Josh Molesworth snatched a late equaliser for Reserve C side Poppleton to send their tie with Pocklington from Reserve B into penalties and their veteran keeper Jim Byword proved to be the hero as Pocklington failed to convert any of the spot kicks as Poppleton advanced into the next round. Copmanthorpe were pushed all the way by Reserve C side Wilberfoss before edging into the next round with a 2-1 win, Jack Hugill and Mike Revey netted for Cop with Elliott Wrightson replying for Wilberfoss. A left-footed screamer from Neil Ducey was the highlight of Dringhouses 3-0 win at Aviva, Mark Bellah and Jamie Barkway contributed the other Dringhouses goals. Stamford Bridge hit seven first half goals on route to a comfortable 8-0 win over Huby, sharing the Stamford tally was Matt Free (3), Ben Malthouse, Bobby Templeton, Shaun Skippen, Gareth Owen and Tony Downing. Wheldrake will fly the flag for Reserve D in the next round after they defeated Tadcaster Town 3-2, twice James Smith had given Wheldrake the lead but Tadcaster produced an equaliser for both but they had no answer to James Walton ‘s 88th minute header.

The York Minster Engineering League will have vacancies next season for both First Teams and Reserve Teams, for further information contact the League Secretary Mr Peter Gibson on York (01904) 796765

Match Reports from 23rd February 2013

23rd February 2013

As we rapidly approach “the business end of the season” the week-ends fixtures threw up three top-of-the-table clashes across the nine divisions including the eagerly awaited meeting between the top two sides in the York Minster Engineering Premier League, Wigginton and Dunnington.

Wigginton suffered a second successive home defeat as they lost 1-0 to Dunnington in the proverbial six pointer with title rivals Dunnington, as Scott Sullivan’s 19th league goal of the season proved to be the difference between the two sides. The win extends Dunnington’s unbeaten run to 24, their last defeat been on the 3rd March 2012.

Struggling Poppleton put in a spirited performance at Old Malton but the Defending Champions eventually won 5-2. After a goal less opening half Liam Preston’s opener for Old Malton was cancelled out by Joe Dale but the Ryedale side took control as Jon Newton – scoring for the fourth game on the bounce – restored their lead before Darren Dunning scored twice with Tom Fenwick adding a fifth late goal for Old Malton, Danny Temple hit Pop’s second goal. Copmanthorpe’s Robin Bedford scored all his sides goals in their 4-2 home win over Terrington Glory, Dan Bulmer and Jordan Grose replied for the Glory boys.

A late equaliser from Lee Bunce earned Huntington a share of the points and their first drawn match in 30 games as they drew 2-2 with visitors Riccall. Earlier an own goal had given Huntington the early advantage but Riccall led at the break through Dave Heron and a Wayne Brook penalty.

Selby RSSC ended a run of six games without a win as they won 2-0 at York RI and moved out of the relegation zone, Richard Sykes put the Selby side in front with Matty Musgrave adding their second. Dringhouses chalked up their sixth straight win over York St Johns as goals from Will Pepper, Javier Shepherd and Mitch Carter earned them a 3-0 victory, it was the students first home defeat in six.

Aviva remain at the top of Division One despite losing their top-of the-table clash at second place Malton & Norton but the Ryedale side have closed the gap to just four points and have a game in hand. Liam Burdett gave the hosts the lead at the break before second half goals from Ryan Rivis and Simon Reeves confirmed a 3-0 win for Malton & Norton.  St Clements,  who have never lost a game this season when they have scored a goal, continued the trend with a 3-0 home win over Pocklington. The Saints led at the break courtesy of an own goal and doubled their lead with a  Danny Adams effort and confirmed the win with a Mike Heels goal. Pocklington have now failed to score in three of the last four meetings with St Clements. White Horse, with all their games in hand, continue to be a promotion contender and they enhanced their chances with a 2-0 home win over Total Sports, a Dave Marshall free kick broke the deadlock in the second half before John Langrick wrapped up the points. The Church Fenton side are unbeaten in their last 15 home games but it was a first win over Total Sports in seven attempts.  Despite a brace from Jedd Vale Wilberfoss slumped to their 12th home game without a win as they lost 4-2 to Tockwith, the visitors goals were shared between Chris Clarke, an og, Will Richmond and Adam Fairhurst. Amotherby put some space between themselves and the drop zone after they registered their first home win of the season as they came back from trailing to a Jon Wileman goal to beat Hemingbrough 5-1. John Dunning,        Andy Phillips (2) George Moore and Mike Lindsay hit the Amotherby goals.

The top three sides in Division Two all won, League Leaders Osbaldwick made it four away trips without a defeat as they won 5-0 at Stamford Bridge  with Mike Whitley hitting a hat-trick for the O’s, Steve Jarman and Chris Bilton completed the Osbaldwick nap hand.

Rawcliffe pushed their unbeaten run into double figures with a 3-0 home win over Heslington despite having a penalty saved after just five minutes. John Moss eventually broke the deadlock just before the interval with Louis Howarth scoring twice in the second half.  Ben Jones scored for the fifth game on the trot when he put third placed Bishopthorpe in front after just 15 seconds in their home fixture with Strensall which they won 6-2. However Joe Gardham took the plaudits with a hat-trick to add to a David Fisher strike while Jones took his tally for the season to 22 with his second goal of the game. Jack Wilson and Liam Winfield replied for Strensall. Cliffe moved off the bottom rung of the table as second half goals from Andy Kirkham, Lee Carter and Tom Hogg earned them their first win in 6 and dented the promotion hopes of opponents Fulford as the Selby side won 3-0.   Tadcaster Magnets recorded their first away win of the season as they beat Thorpe 5-1, Andy Kitchen twice and   Adam Standridge hit the back of the Thorpe net inside the first half hour and though Thorpe pulled a goal back through Danny Mustill, two goals in a minute, the first from Phil Smith and then Kitchen to complete his hat-trick,    settled the issue.

Division Three leaders F1 Racing extend their unbeaten home to 14 matches with a 2-0 win over Sporting Knavesmire but were indebted to their keeper Dan Hoggins for helping to keep the visitors at bay. Neil Yeowart hit their opener with George Trifan doubling their lead in the second period.  Barmby Moor hit five goals for the fourth successive league game as they defeated promotion rivals Bishop Wilton 5-1 and for the third game running they conceded an early goal. Charlie Bond put the visitors in front before Barmby responded with goals from Chris Tatterton (2) Greg Nesbitt, Curtis Barker and John Hardcastle. Bishop Wilton retain second place but only on goal difference from Barmby Moor. Civil Service re-ignited their slim promotion chances with a 6-0 home win over Huby with goals from Findlay Gillyham, James Windle (2) Craig Theaker, Mathew Deighton and Shaun Rayner. Ben Jones scored twice for Ouseburn in their 3-1 home win over Selby Olympia. Crayke recorded their first win since December 2011 as they beat Elvington 2-1, Steve Johnson’s opener for Crayke was nullified out by Neil Alexander before Dan Smith hit their winner, the Harriers as a result drop into the relegation zone replacing Crayke.

LNER Builders kept their faint promotion hopes alive in Division Four with a 3-1 win at Huntington FC,  Sam Hill the Divisions leading goal scorer scored twice for the Builders with Dan Shaw adding their third, Eric Balderstone replied for Huntington FC. . A Tom Owen  treble helped his Tadcaster Town side push their unbeaten home run to 8 matches as they defeated Selby Town Res 4-0, Will Leaff completed the Taddy goals. A James Hurst penalty gave Moor Lane the lead at Wheldrake but they were denied a first away win 11 as the home side hit back with goals from Ali Carroll, Ben Webster, George Ledley and Jonathon Scutt  as Wheldrake won 4-2, Gavin Harford hit the second Moor Lane goal.

It may not have been a clash of the leading two sides in Reserve A but Wigginton’s 2-2 draw at defending Champions Dunnington may prove pivotal in Dunnington retaining the Championship. The home side, unbeaten since September 2011 when they lost 2-1 to Wigginton, led with goals from Rob Hart and Dan Hall but Wigginton salvaged a point and hope of yet lifting the title with two late goals. Second half goals from Danny Clipson and Neil Ducey enabled Dringhouses to extend their unbeaten home run to four games as they defeated Huntington Rovers 2-0.

With Reserve B leaders Church Fenton White Horse without a fixture the two sides immediately below them missed out on the chance to close the gap after they cancelled each other out as second placed Easingwold hit three late goals to snatch a 3-3 draw with third in the table Fulford FC Utd. Goals from Marcus Worsley, Steve Cooper and Lee McArdle  looked to have set up Fulfords fourth straight away win on the trot but instead they had to settle for their first draw in 19 matches as two goals from Andrew Metcalfe (Jnr) and one from Gary Raper  earned Easingwold a share of the points. The remaining games in the Division all went in favour of the hosts, Russ Turnball and Rob Evans scored for Aviva as they beat York St Johns 2-0 while a second half brace from Ash Newton coupled with a Mike Stacey goal earned Pocklington a 3-0 win over Heslington and goals from Joe Smith and Josh Derry helped Tadcaster Magnets to their first win nine as they defeated Bishopthorpe 2-1.

The first promotion issue of the season has been decided as defeats for Selby RSSC and Stamford Bridge coupled with a Malton & Norton victory have confirmed promotion for the Ryedale side from Reserve C just a season after they were relegated from Reserve B.  The Ryedale side maintained their unbeaten run for the season with a 4-0 home win over Tockwith, a Nigel Allen free kick gave them the lead before Ed Marwood was gifted a simple tap-in to double their lead just before the break. Steve Hoggard and Adam Cooke bagged in the second half for Malton. Second placed Selby RSSC suffered their first defeat in 8 at the hands of local rivals Hemingbrough, a side that they had beaten just two weeks ago. Ryan Willis put the Selby side in front before goals either side of the interval, the first from Mike Young, the second from Liam Gaughtry    saw the villagers in front, an own goal restored parity but Ricky Hutton hit the late winner for Hemingbrough.
