Match Reports 16th February 2013

16th February 2013

Title chasing Wigginton Grasshoppers,  hammered 8-0 last week in the York Minster Engineering Premier League,  bounced back by defeating basement side Hamilton Panthers by the same 8-0 scoreline. Panthers were still in the game at the interval trailing only to goals from Dan Zambeli and Eddie Clapham but Wigginton were not going to be denied the chance of moving within two points of Leaders Dunnington and they added to their score at frequent intervals as Clapham completed his hat-trick, Scott Stewart hit three in twenty minutes and the pick of the eight was a goal from Luke Roberts after a 40 yd run.  Defending Champions Old Malton continued in their rich vein of form as they beat Huntington Rovers 4-1 with their goals shared between Jon Newton – scoring for the third successive game -  and Tom Fenwick, Dave Hartas replied for Huntington. Poppleton recorded their first home win in 11 games  to move out the relegation zone following their 4-3 win over Riccall though they trailed 3-1 at the interval to goals from Wayne Brook, Dave Heron and Ryan Watson. Joe Dale doubled his tally for the afternoon when he reduced the arrears in the second half before Matt Janes equalised and Adam Ferguson hit Pop’s winner. York St Johns eased their relegation worries at the expenses of fellow strugglers Easingwold Town as Michael Grogan hit the only goal of the game in the final five minutes as the students won 1-0 and record their first away goal since last September. Easingwold have now failed to record a home victory in their last six attempts. Copmanthorpe registered their first win over York RI since March 2011 and their biggest winning margin for nine years as they won 7-1. The Cop tally was shared between Robin Bedford (2) Chris Storey, Mark Featherstone,   Danny Leach, Mike Peace, and Olly Bird, Mark Woodward replied for RI.

The top two sides in Division One both won away from home, leaders Aviva needed a quality goal from James Calary as the Insurance side won 1-0 at bottom of the table Wilberfoss whilst second placed Malton & Norton came from a goal down at Pocklington to win 2-1. Marcus Godsell’s 12th goal of the season cancelled out Tom Raey’s opener for Pock with Kingsley Daffern hitting their winner which extended the Ryedale sides unbeaten away run to 13 games, their last defeat was at Pocklington on October 2011. White Horse,  who have games in hand on all the promotion chasing sides, stretched their unbeaten home run to 14 games with a 5-2 win over lowly Haxby. Darren Storey put Haxby in front before Lenny Mason levelled and the hosts went in front with a Jonathon Marshall penalty though Haxby restored parity before the break through Dale Waddington. A John Langrick hat-trick after the interval settled the game in favour of the Church Fenton side. St Clements ended a barren run of almost five hours without a goal as they beat Hemingbrough 2-0, Simon Kehoe and Scott Nicholas scored for the Saints.

As Division Two leaders Fulford had no fixture and the four sides immediately below them all won,  they consequently slipped down to fourth place in what is the closest race in the Division for many years with just two points separating the top five sides. Osbaldwick return to the summit after they won by the odd goal in nine against Strensall, Sam Thompson and Andrew Bilton gave the O’s the ideal start both netting inside the first 10 minutes from which point the O’s were never behind, Tom Wheatlands weighed in with a brace with Nick Lawrie completing the scoring for Osbaldwick with Danny Mason (2) Mick Pipe and Jack Wilson responding for Strensall. Rawcliffe moved into second place as they pushed their unbeaten run to 9 games as a goal in each half, the first from Scott Pallister, the second from John Moss,  earned them a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge. Ben Jones, scoring for the fourth game on the trot for Bishopthorpe, scored four of his sides goals in their 5-2 win over Thorpe, Nick May added their fifth. Heslington snatched victory from visitors Cliffe with two goals in injury time, Tom Hogg had earlier given Cliffe the lead before late goals from Martin Pepper  and John Pipes sealed a 2-1 win for Heslington.

The top-of-the-table clash in Division Three went in favour of visitors F1 Racing who beat Bishop Wilton 2-1, and inflicted a first home defeat on their hosts since March 2011.  Jake Murphy gave F1 the lead and they doubled their advantage with a George Trifan penalty  with Tom Knowles pulling a goal back for the home side. Third placed Barmby Moor hit five goals for the third week on the trot but just as they had to do last week,  they came from behind, hosts Crayke raced into a three goal lead inside the opening ten minutes through Luke Bilham, Jack Cartwright and Tom Hilling but before the break Barmby Moor were back on level terms due to goals from Will Nicholson, Richard Tinton and Shaun Hodgson. The visitors fourth straight win on the trot was confirmed with a Chris Tatterton goal five minutes from time and an even later own goal as Barmby won 5-3. Selby Olympia recorded back-to-back home wins for the first time this season as they beat Civil Service 3-1, Andrew Woodhall and a Nigel Croad brace accounted for the Selby goals with James Windle replying for the visitors. Sporting Knavesmire completed a comfortable double over Huby as they won 7-0 with goals from Andy Simpson, Alex Dale, Danny Smith and two each for Jamie Painter and Alistair Brown.

Division 4 leaders York Acorns pushed their unbeaten run to 14 games as they hit six unanswered goals past Huntington FC.  Leigh Dutton and Connor Larne both struck twice for Acorns to add to a goal from Steve Abbott and an own goal. For the second week running Selby Town Res and  LNER Builders shared the points as they drew 0-0 following last weeks 3-3 draw. Moor Lane recorded their first win in nine games as they defeated Melbourne 2-1, a Chris Cooke goal separated the sides at the interval in Melbourne’s favour before Brendan Walsh equalised and Adam Craske hit their winner.

Wigginton Grasshoppers challenge for the Reserve A title took another knock as they needed a late equaliser from Mark Scoreby to secure a 1-1 draw at Copmanthorpe after Stu Aughton had put Cop in front.   Grasshoppers may be sitting 12 points clear at the top of the table with their only realistic challengers,  Dunnington 17 points adrift of them but they have a massive 8 games in hand and Wigginton’s recent haul of just five points from their last four games has seriously hampered their aspirations of the title.  Dunnington meanwhile continued in their usual manner as they hit four goals past Old Malton for the fourth game on the trot between the two sides, Andy Rose scored twice to add to goals from Ian Burgess, and Josh Tattersall as Dunnington won 4-0. Lee Bunce took his personal tally to ten goals from his last 4 games as he hit four of Huntington’s goals in their 6-3 win over York RI, Dan Hood and Gareth Hurst  added the other Huntington goals with RI replying through Mark Powell, Dave Clarke and Colling Cummings. Dringhouses recorded their first draw in 30 games as they drew 1-1 at home to Riccall, Dan Clipson headed Dringhouses in front with Brett Collier supplying Riccall’s equaliser.

Reserve B leaders White House maintained their unbeaten home record for the season with a 3-0 win over Bishopthorpe, Tom Parnaby, Steve Wragg and Adam Beavers hit their goals. Fulford FC hit six goals for the second successive week, the unfortunate opposition this week was Pocklington as they lost 6-0, Danny Holmes started the balling roll and Dan Harris completed the rout and in between Steve Cooper and Ben Bailey both bagged a brace. York St Johns and Heslington both climbed out of the relegation zone after picking up useful away points, the students hammered basement side Tadcaster Magnets 7-1 with the help of a first half hat-trick from Angus Jones, James Long (2) Chris Walker and Tom Parry completed the rout in the second half with Geoff Nattras getting a consolation goal for Tadcaster while Heslington collected a point from a 1-1 draw at Aviva, James Dunwoody scored for the hosts.

Two more wins from their remaining five games will be enough for Malton & Norton to take the Reserve C Championship following their 1-0 home win over Rowntrees. Skipper Joe Jefferson scored the only goal of the game with a header as the Ryedale side extended their unbeaten run to 13   games. Poppleton chalked up their first away win of the season with a 1-0 victory at Thorpe, Hungarian Pavel Perhac hitting the all-important goal.

With Reserve D leaders Crayke’s game called off, second placed Civil Service took the opportunity  to move within a point of the leaders after they beat Bishop Wilton 5-0.  Ross Dixon and Craig Coates netted in the first half but the win was not confirmed until late goals from Matty Williams, Ben Holding and a second of the game from Dixon. F1 Racing trailed 2-1 at home to Rufforth with less than 20 minutes to go but goals from Darren Bebb(2) Dan Cooper and Paulo-Santos Monterio earned them a 4-2 victory. When a team without a home win in five entertains a team without an away win in 8 something has to give and  Cliffe managed their first home win of the season as they beat Huby 9-0 with a hat-trick for Nigel Horner and two each for Toby Bodycombe, Joe White and 16 year old Ryan Sutherland.

Match Reports from 9th February 2013

9th February 2013

Old Malton,  the defending York Minster Engineering Premier League Champions produced  a performance   akin to last terms form when they remained unbeaten all season,  as they thrashed title hopefuls Wigginton, 8-0 and record their biggest away win since April 2008. Wigginton conceded first half goals to Tom Fenwick, Darren Dunning and Jon Newton before the Ryedale side hit top gear in the second-half as both Fenwick and Dunning completed their hat-tricks with Dean Nuttall adding his name to the scorers list. It was Grasshoppers heaviest defeat since November 2009.

Poppleton Utd recorded their first away draw in 16 games after they conceded two second-half goals to share the spoils with hosts Dringhouses in a 3-3 draw. Dave Pickles opening goal for Pop was cancelled out by an own goal but the visitors went into the interval leading 3-1 courtesy of goals from Joe Dale and Jim Gledhill. Dave Watson reduced the arrears for the hosts and Liam Stilgoe equalised for Dringhouses from the penalty spot. It was only Dringhouses second home draw in their previous 41 home games and they both finished 3-3.

The first home win of the season still eludes Selby RSSC as they lost 1-0 at home to Rowntrees. Robin Bedford took his personally tally for the season to 12 when he opened the scoring for Copmanthorpe in the second half against visitors Hamilton Panthers, Chris Storey doubled their lead and Olly Bird wrapped up the scoring as Cop won 3-0. Easingwold edged further away from the relegation zone as they collected their seventh point from their previous three away games as they drew 1`-1 at York St Johns, John Durrant put Easingwold in front with Josh Da Silva levelling for the students late in the game.

Only two games were scheduled in Division One, Haxby and Tockwith played out a goalless draw while Malton & Norton consolidated their second position in the table with a 2-1 home win over Amotherby & Swinton.  Chris Hodgson and Kingsley Daffern netted for the hosts with George Moore replying for Amotherby.

Division Two leaders Osbaldwick suffered their first home defeat in six matches as they lost 2-1 to a revitalised  Bishopthorpe side, Rob Wright gave Bish an early advantage before Ben Jones,  the divisions leading goal scorer, doubled their advantage, Matt Hattee replied for the O’s in the second half. Fulford replace Osbaldwick at the top of the table following their 3-2 win at Thorpe, the hosts,  without a win in four,  took an early lead but two goals from Danny Penrose and one from Sam Pepper helped Fulford earn their first double of the season. Rawcliffe extended their unbeaten run to 8 games but they had to settle for just a point as visitors Tadcaster Magnets equalised four minutes from time as they sides drew 1-1, earlier Danny Coulson had give Rawcliffe the lead.

The top three sides in Division Three all hit five goals at home to collect maximum points but a home defeat for fourth placed Civil Service has seriously dented their promotion hopes. League Leaders Bishop Wilton fell behind to a James Robertson goal against basement side Crayke but before the break they ensured their unbeaten home run was extended to 15 games as they led 4-1 with goals from Charlie Bond, Tom Knowles, Edward Donkin and Kramer Smith with Jason Nattras adding their fifth after the break. Second placed F1 Racing also led 4-1 at the break in their home encounter with Elvington Harriers, the hosts nap hand was shared between Rich Proctor (2) – scoring for the fifth game on the bounce -  Neil Yeowart, Andy Proctor and Jake Murphy with Neil Alexander and Alex Martin replying for the Harriers.  Third placed Barmby Moor had a ding-dong battle with Rufforth before eventually winning 5-3, Chris Tatterton put the home side in front but the visitors rallied with goals from Dan Whitcombe and Ryan Williams to lead 2-1, Tatterton then added his second, Williams did likewise for Rufforth before Jamie Sedman made it 3-3 at the break but two goals in the final five minutes from Greg Nesbitt and Tom Gibson preserved Barmby Moor’s unbeaten home record for the season.  Civil Service, despite Josh Coulson giving the an interval lead,  lost 2-1 at home to Ouseburn. Sporting Knavesmire ended a run of three consecutive draws as they thumped Huby 6-0 with their tally shared between Andrew Simpson, Tom Wilson, Scott Backhouse, Dan Smith, Ryan Gothard and Jamie Painter.

Wheldrake ended a run of five home games without a win in Division Four as they defeated Huntington 4-0, Ali Carroll and Ben Patchesa hit first half goals for the home side with Niall Kirby and Jason McCleod scoring in the second half. Three times Selby Town Reserves led at LNER Builders, initially through Olly O’Neil, then Kie Latham and finally through Callum Roe-Dixon but on each occasion the Builders equalised, Alex Moulton hit their first, Sam Hill,  with his 25th goal of the season,  their second,  and then Dean Machin converted a penalty two  minutes from time to  level the game at 3-3.

In the only game played in Reserve A, Old Malton avenged the 2-1 defeat at Copmanthorpe by beating the same opposition by the identical score at home to chalk up their fourth straight home win. Richard Stevenson and Luke Davis bagged for Old Malton with Ryan Partington replying for Cop.

All the Reserve B fixtures went in favour of the home sides. League leaders White Horse suffered their first defeat in 11 games as they lost 2-0 at struggling Bishopthorpe, Jamie Mackie hit both Bish goals.  The defeat sees the Church Fenton sides lead at the top of the table cut to five points as second placed Easingwold, who also have a game in hand on the leaders, came from a goal down at home to Heslington to win 3-2, Andrew Metcalfe (Snr) sandwiched a Jordan Green brace for the hosts. Don Harris hit a hat-trick as third placed Fulford kept in touch with the leading duo as they registered a comfortable 6-1 home win over York St Johns, Steve Cooper (2) and Joe Kanarski added Fulfords other goals. Pocklington who have games in hand on all the leading sides,  maintained their interest in the promotion race with a 2-1 home win over Amotherby, Stu Barker cancelled out Danny Foxton’s opening goal for the visitors with Max Himsworth hitting Pock’s second half winner.  Aviva eased their relegation worries as they chalked up back-to-back home wins and both without conceding a goal, as they condemned visitors Tadcaster Magnets to their sixth away game without a win as the insurance side won 4-0 with goals from Warren Lowe, Rob Evans and a Geoff Pinkney brace.

The top two sides in Reserve C both recorded away victories, leaders Malton & Norton,  defending an unbeaten record for the season, needed a exquisite free kick from Wayne Hazell to break the deadlock in their encounter at Rowntrees, Ed Marwood then took his tally for the season into double figures with their second as the Ryedale side won 2-0. Second placed Selby RSSC took the honours, and the points, from their derby game with local rivals Heminbrough but they left it late scoring twice in the final 10 minutes through  Ryan Willis and Tommy Butterfield to swing the game in their favour 2-1,  Ricky Hutton had earlier given Hemingbrough the lead. Stamford Bridge ended a winless run of three games to keep in the promotion frame as Darren Branden hit the only goal of the game as they defeated Strensall 1-0. Poppleton avenged last weeks defeat at the hands of Wilberfoss by winning the return encounter 4-1, despite falling behind to a Chris Allan goal. Pavel Perhac equalised for Pop before Jack Chilton, Danny Barrett and Danny King struck in the second half for Pop.

Reserve D leaders Crayke slipped to their first defeat of the season as they lost 1-0 at home to Cliffe and to add injury to insult for Crayke,  it was an own goal that separated the sides.  Civil Service moved within four points of the leaders following their 4-2 success at Huby, Dave Tumman put Huby in front but before the break Civil Service hit back with goals from Joe Evans, Carl Barber   (penalty) and Mark Lund and added a fourth through Craig Coates with Huby snatching a late goal from Jimmy Turton. Bishop Wilton struck three times in the opening half hour at Rufforth and despite the hosts replying through Tom Bateson and Kieran Hepworth,  the visitors held onto their advantage to end a run of four away trips without a win, on target for the visitors were Oliver Riley and  Andrew Healy (2). St Clements hit six unanswered goals past Wheldrake, on the scoresheet for the Saints were Liam King (2) Ben Cooper, Ricky Mizzie, Adam and Mark Harrison.

Match Reports from 2nd February 2013

2nd February 2013

Wigginton maintained their challenge on Dunnington in the York Minster Engineering Premier League as they inflicted a first away defeat in 16 games upon their visitors Terrington Glory. Poor finishing in front of goal cost the visitors dearly in the first period as they squandered three gilt-edged goal scoring opportunities which would have seen them well in control at the break and the hosts capitalised in the second half as Dale Holding scored the only goal of the game after Stuart Wright set-up the chance.

Dunnington had little difficulty in extending their unbeaten run to 21 games as they comfortably beat York RI 8-0. Jimmy Wilmoth led the rout with his second hat-trick of the season to add to strikes from Alex Lowe, Tom Richards, Stewart Lee , Luke Dove and scoring for the fourth game on the trot Scott Sullivan.

Easingwold collected three very useful points from their trip to Hamilton Panthers as they defeated Panthers 4-1. Andrew Metcalfe (Jnr) hit their opener with George Kirk doubling their advantage before the break, Olly Newby pulled a goal back for the hosts before Dave Adams and James Moverley hit late goals to seal the victory.

Selby RSSC and Poppleton remain in the bottom three after both sides failed to record their first home win of the season. An own goal and a Chris Storey strike saw Poppleton concede two early goals in the space of ten minutes in their home encounter with Copmanthorpe and though Joe Dale halved the deficit in the second half Robin Bedford hit Cop’s third with Nick Moss getting a late second  goal for Pop.  A Dave Watson double saw Dringhouses taking an early lead at Selby before Shane Caukill pulled a goal back for the Selby side but Watson completed his ‘trick in the second half to add to a Wayne Carter goal as Dringhouses won 4-1.

Jon Newton scored all three Old Malton goals as the Ryedale side beat York St John s 3-0.

Only two games were played In Division One but Total Sports took the opportunity to jump into second place in the table after they defeated Haxby 4-1. Ben Brannigan scored twice in the opening half to set up the win with Will Wood and Dan Walton increasing their lead before Kieran Harris hit a consolation goal for Haxby. Tockwith eased their relegation worries slightly as they chalked up their first double of the season as they defeated Pocklington 2-0 for the second time this season. After a goalless opening hour Andy Wilson headed Tockwith in front before Chris Walker confirmed the win five minutes from time. Pocklington have now failed to register a victory over Tockwith in their last ten league meetings.

Strensall enhanced their promotion hopes in Division Two after their 2-0 win in a mediocre game at Heslington. The two bright spots of the game were the quality of the goals, the precise free kick from Liam Winfield and the unstoppable volley from Nick Fenton

A second hat-trick in as many games for Ben Jones helped Bishopthorpe to a 4-1 win over Cliffe and climb away from the relegation zone, Paul Galdas completed the scoring for Bish with Nathan Parker replying for Cliffe.

In Division Three,  F1 Racing,  extended their unbeaten home run to 12 games after they beat promotion rivals Civil Service 4-2. Neil Yeowart celebrated his 400th league game for the club by opening the scoring with Ross Howard adding a second for the hosts before the break. The visitors responded in the second period with a Gareth Inness goal before Rich Proctor and George Trifan -  scoring for the tenth game on the trot – put the game beyond the visitors before Inness converted a penalty with the last kick of the game. Crayke and Sporting Knavesmire have accumulated 9 drawn games between them from only 16 fixtures played this season so when the two sides clashed it was almost inevitable that they would draw. At the break Sporting led with goals from Dan Smith, Tom Williams and Andrew Simpson and would not believe that they were heading for their fourth draw in their last five games but the hosts who have three previous 3-3 draws this season made it number four with second half goals from Tom Hilling, Dan Smith and Cory Wincut. Nigel Croad marked his Selby Olympia debut by scoring twice and helping his new team register their first home win of the season as they defeated Huby 5-1, Darren Pool, Craig Walton and an own goal made up the Selby goals with Tom Horner replying for Huby.

The top-of-the-table-clash in Division Four went in favour of league leaders York Acorn who have now opened up a 12 point lead over beaten rivals Tadcaster Town. Leigh Dutton hit a brace for the Acorns to add to Wilson Briggs goal as Acorns are unbeaten in 13 while Tadcaster Town suffered their first defeat of the season.  LNER Builders came from a goal down at home to Melbourne to take all three points, the Divisions leading goal scorer,  Sam Hill cancelled out Mathew Underwood’s opener for Melbourne before  Dean Machin  and Craig Dinsdale secured a 3-1 win. Callum Rowe-Dixon hit both Selby Town Res goals in their 2-1 win at Huntington. Moor Lane’s James Shaw hit the first and last goal of the game in their encounter with Wheldrake but in between the visitors responded with goals from Ben Feathers (2),  George Ledley, Ben Pachesa, Jason McCloud, John Scott and Oliver Butterfield as Wheldrake won 7-2.

Of the four matches played in Reserve A, three of the games finished 2-2, the exception been the 10-2 hammering of Hamilton Panthers by Dringhouses.  Sam Kitson, Mitch Carter and Tom Hawksby all hit a treble for ‘houses to add to a Dan Clipson effort. Haxby recorded their first away draw in 18 games as they shared the points with Copmanthorpe, Jason Kelly and an own goal were credited with the Haxby goals, their last draw was in March 2011 when they drew at Copmanthorpe. Lee Bunce scored twice in the first half for Huntington but hosts Riccall prevented a sixth straight defeat with a goal in each half from Will Ramsey.  York RI and Old Malton drew 2-2, Danny Cates and Dave Clarke shared RI goals while Richard Cass and Jack Thackray did likewise for Old Malton. It was RI first home draw since they shared the points with Malton & Norton in a Reserve C game in April 2011.

The top two sides in Reserve B both recorded home wins, Andrew Metcalfe (Snr) scored twice  to add to Jordan Green’s opening goal as second placed Easingwold beat Tadcaster 3-0 while leaders White Horse defeated Amotherby & Swinton despite twice falling behind. Kyle Hesling cancelled out Matty Bean’s opener for Amotherby and then did the same after Adam Grey had restored Amotherby’s lead before Stephen Wragg ensured that the Church Fenton sides unbeaten run extended into double figures when he hit what proved to be their winner in the final twenty minutes. Tom Milner hit the only goal of the game as Aviva recorded their first home win of the season as they beat Bishopthorpe 1-0.

Reserve C leaders Malton & Norton dropped their first home points of the campaign after they drew 1-1 with Stamford Bridge. Brandon Read gave the hosts the lead but Kevin Smith equalised early in the second half. Byrom Summers converted a first half penalty to give his Thorpe side the lead at Rowntrees but two goals in two minutes from Cart Thompson swung the game in favour of the hosts. Daniel Thompson and Dale Phillips extended Rowntrees lead further before Thompson completed hid hat-trick as Rowntrees won 5-2, Richard Lane hit a late consolation goal for Thorpe. Wilberfoss’s fight to avoid a third consecutive relegation is appearing to gain momentum as they chalked up back-to-back wins for the first time in almost three years as they followed up their win over Stamford Bridge with a 3-1 home win over Poppleton. James Parkin put Foss in front before Jim Gledhill levelled for Pop but second half goals from Jonathon Parkin and James Haughian secured the win.

Crayke maintained their unbeaten run this season as the Reserve D leaders won 3-0 at Bishop Wilton, Oliver Everhard, Rob Gaultry and Luke Bilham hit their goals and F1 Racing improved their goal difference as they thrashed Huby 11-0 with their tally shared between  Jorge Garcia, a brace for  Craig Hardcastle  a hat-trick for Mark Foster and Dan Cooper hitting the other five.

Match Reports from 12th January 2013

12th January 2013

With the York Minster Engineering Premier League leaders Dunnington without a game,  Wigginton Grasshoppers took full advantage to move within five points of the leaders after they won 3-1 at Old Malton, and against a side that they have failed to beat since March 2008.

The visitors led at the break courtesy of an early Jamie Wilstrop effort and only the agility of Grasshoppers keeper Michael Clancy denied the Ryedale side an equaliser. Within four minutes of the resumption they had doubled their lead as Lee McQuade struck his 24th league goal of the season and though Scott Preston pulled a goal back within two minutes for the hosts ,  Kev Butler confirmed the Wigginton win with their third 20 minutes from time.

Riccall recorded their first win at Copmanthorpe since their promotion to the Premier League four years ago. They lead through a fortuitous own goal which was later cancelled out by Matty Pallister but Riccall pinched all three points with a last minute winner from Andy Addison.  Huntington completed the double over Poppleton as they followed up their 4-1 home win with a 3-1 victory at Poppleton. Chris Dyson hit their opener with Marc Thompson scoring twice in the second half. Easingwold Town ended a run of 11 games without a win as they won 3-2 at Selby RSSC.

The hosts, looking for their first home win of the season,  led 2-0 at the break with goals from Matty Musgrave and Louis Blackwell but the visitors hit back in the second period with goals from Ben Stirk, George Kirk and Ben Tilley.  Another side to excel in the second half was York RI, they trailed 1-0 at the break at home to Rowntrees but totally outplayed their opponents in the second period to win 7-2, Nick Hutchinson, Cameron Sanderson, Lee Powell (2) Liam Keenaghan (2) and Craig Atkinson shared their tally.

The clash between two of the struggling sides,  York St Johns and Hamilton Panthers,  was settled in favour of the students with Daniel Tingay heading the only goal of the game after just two minutes.

Division One leaders Aviva travelled to second in the table St Clements with both sides looking for their first win in three games, a Tom Shirley goal in the first quarter-of-an-hour saw Aviva to a 1-0 win and the luxury of a 10 point advantage at the top of the table. Church Fenton White Horse suffered their first defeat in six games as they lost at Total Sports, the hosts let slip a two goal lead before eventually winning 5-2 with a hat-trick from Ben Brannigan to add to strikes from Tom Robinson and Amos Laverack. White Horse have now failed to beat their hosts in their last seven meetings. Basement side Wilberfoss secured their second successive away draw as they shared the spoils with hosts Tockwith, Andy Walker gave Tockwith an early lead and though Foss missed a penalty Ian Cappleman levelled for Wilberfoss. Amotherby & Swinton’s away form is certainly keeping them out of the relegation zone and they collected their fourth away win of the season with a comfortable 6-1 win at Pocklington, Mike Lindsay hit a treble for the visitors to add to a Andy Phillips brace and one from George Moore. Malton & Norton trailed to a Matt Wash goal at Haxby but replied with goals from Kevin Oxendale, Marcus Godsell and Ryan Revis to win 3-2, Darren Storey hit the second Haxby goal.

Division Two is arguably the closest of all the Divisions with realistically all of the sides still in contention for promotion and relegation. Leaders Fulford succumbed to two goals from Scott Pallister at Rawcliffe who are now unbeaten in 7,  as they lost 2-1, Matty Newsham replied for Fulford.  Second placed Heslington conceded three goals in the first fifteen minutes in their game at Bishopthorpe and all to Ben Jones, Lee Topping and Alex Sutherland did eventually reduce the deficit but Bish won 3-2 to end a run of six games without a win. Bishopthorpe’s last win was at Heslington. Osbaldwick are the new leaders following their 2-1 success at Thorpe despite Craig Pickles giving Thorpe the lead at the interval, Nick Lawrie and Tom Wheatlands struck second half goals for the O’s.
