As
the top three sides in the York Minster Engineering Premier League
all recorded wins there was no change at the top of the table.
Leaders
Dunnington stretched their unbeaten run to 15 games as they defeated
Dringhouses 5-1. Josh Tattersall scored twice in the first half for the hosts
and though Craig McShane pulled a goal back for Dringhouses the win was
confirmed with second half goals from Grant Bulmer, Luke Dove and a Tom Richards
penalty. It was only Dunnington’s fourth home win over Dringhouses in the last
10 years. Second
placed Wigginton entertained Riccall and were looking for their first Premier
League win over their visitors since Riccall were promoted to the top tier. Scott
Stewart gave the home side the lead after just 6 minutes with Chris Jackson
equalising 6 minutes before the break.
Wayne Brook then put Riccall in front but the lead lasted just three minutes as
Josh Hutchinson levelled the scores before Wigginton’s first Premier League win
over Riccall was assured by Kev Butler three minutes into added time. Selby
suffered their first away defeat of the season as they lost 2-1 at third-in-the -table Huntington, Neil Holmes
early goal for Huntington was cancelled out by John-Pierre Grenier before Gary
Newton settled the game with his second successful penalty of the season. Old Malton lost a little ground on the leading
trio after they were held to a 4-4 draw at much-improved York St Johns despite
leading twice. Damian Cox put the Ryedale side in front but two goals in as
many minutes from Tom Hairyes saw the students leading only for Scott Preston
to restore parity from the penalty spot before the break. After the break a Danny
Fogg goal was cancelled out by Harry Hewson
before a second penalty of the game for Preston
restored Old Malton’s lead again but Hairyes completed his hat-trick with
virtually the last kick of the game to ensure a share of the spoils. Copmanthorpe
staged their first home league game of the season and maintained their unbeaten
record in the Premier League against Easingwold with a 3-0 victory, Oliver Bird
and Chris Storey struck in the first half with Mark Featherstone netting after the break
and Alex Yates hit a hat-trick as
Terrington Glory beat Hamilton Panther 5-0. Dave Bradshaw and Ben Richardson
completed the scoring.
Newly
Promoted Fulford registered their first win over Heworth in five meetings and
stormed to the top of Division Two following their 8-0 win at Heworth with both
Sam Harrison and Jordan Siswick helping themselves to a treble, Steve Jarvis
and Andrew Browse completed the scoring for Fulford who are now unbeaten in 12. Having lost both derby encounters with Cliffe
last season, Thorpe never looked like
losing a third on the trot to their rivals as they were always in front on this
occasion as they eventually won 4-2, Dean Woods (2) Dan Mustill and Tom Rowley
were on target for Thorpe with Tom Hogg getting both Cliffe’s goals. Two second
half goals from Tom Wheatlands helped Osbaldwick overturn a 2-1 deficit at the
break as they O’s beat Rawcliffe 3-2 and record their first win over their
visitors since May 2009, Nick Lawrie hit
the Osbaldwick opening goal.
Richard
Dwight scored the only goal of the game in the solitary Division Three fixture as
Ouseburn defeated Elvington 1-0.
Selby
Town Res opened their Division Four campaign with a
resounding 4-0 home win over Melbourne
with their goals shared between Mathew Walker Callum Roe-Dixon, Joe McCluckie
and Graham Stewart. New boys Huntington
FC earned their first points of the season as they came from 2-1 down at Moor Lane to win
5-2, Oliver Crasse and Gavin Harford netted for the hosts. Wheldrake ended a run of 19 games without a
win as they defeated LNER Builders 5-3, though they almost let that slip as
they led 5-0 with 20 minutes to go. Builders who have not won at Wheldrake
since February 2007 were undone by goals
from Chris Robjohn and a brace each from Ben Smalling and Nigel Kirkby.
Wigginton
maintained their 100% start to the season in Reserve A with a
comfortable 5-0 win at Dringhouses. Dave Thompson, Rob Orr, Tom Darbyshire (2)
and Ben Thompson sharing their nap hand. Promoted York RI chalked up their
first win of the campaign as a brace each from Colin Gibson and Dave Clarke
helped earn them a 4-1 home win over Haxby, Paul Holmes replied for the
visitors and Riccall opened their account at the third time of asking following
a 1-1 home draw with Copmanthorpe, Matty Barker equalising for Cop after Jim
Darlison had given Riccall a half-time advantage. Old Malton showed no mercy to a below strength
Hamilton Panthers squad as they hit Panthers for 15 without reply which
included a hat-trick each for Dean Leadll and Rich Stephenson and four goals
for Adam Newell.
Malton
& Norton retain top spot in Reserve C despite been held to a 1-1
at Selby RSSC, David Sayles levelling for Selby after Darryl Craggs had given
the Ryedale side the lead. After a goal-less first half Poppleton managed to
make it 2 wins from 2 as they defeated
Thorpe 3-2 with goals from Danny Barrett and brothers Nick and Richard Moss
while Zac Tobin hit both goals for Tockwith in their 2-0 home win over
Wilberfoss.
Bishop
Wilton ended a run of 15 games without a win in Reserve D as they
triumphed 2-1 over Tadcaster Town , Nigel Allinson and Oliver Riley struck the
