Old
Malton, the defending York
Minster Engineering Premier League Champions produced a performance akin to last terms form when they
remained unbeaten all season, as they
thrashed title hopefuls Wigginton, 8-0 and record their biggest away win since
April 2008. Wigginton conceded first half goals to Tom Fenwick, Darren Dunning
and Jon Newton before the Ryedale side hit top gear in the second-half as both
Fenwick and Dunning completed their hat-tricks with Dean Nuttall adding his
name to the scorers list. It was Grasshoppers heaviest defeat since November
2009.
Poppleton
Utd recorded their first away draw in 16 games after they conceded two second-half
goals to share the spoils with hosts Dringhouses in a 3-3 draw. Dave Pickles opening
goal for Pop was cancelled out by an own goal but the visitors went into the
interval leading 3-1 courtesy of goals from Joe Dale and Jim Gledhill. Dave
Watson reduced the arrears for the hosts and Liam Stilgoe equalised for
Dringhouses from the penalty spot. It was only Dringhouses second home draw in
their previous 41 home games and they both finished 3-3.
The
first home win of the season still eludes Selby RSSC as they lost 1-0 at home
to Rowntrees. Robin Bedford took his personally tally for the season to 12 when
he opened the scoring for Copmanthorpe in the second half against visitors
Hamilton Panthers, Chris Storey doubled their lead and Olly Bird wrapped up the
scoring as Cop won 3-0. Easingwold edged further away from the relegation zone
as they collected their seventh point from their previous three away games as
they drew 1`-1 at York St Johns, John Durrant put Easingwold in front with Josh
Da Silva levelling for the students late in the game.
Only
two games were scheduled in Division One, Haxby and Tockwith
played out a goalless draw while Malton & Norton consolidated their second
position in the table with a 2-1 home win over Amotherby & Swinton. Chris Hodgson and Kingsley Daffern netted for
the hosts with George Moore replying for Amotherby.
Division
Two leaders
Osbaldwick suffered their first home defeat in six matches as they lost 2-1 to
a revitalised Bishopthorpe side, Rob
Wright gave Bish an early advantage before Ben Jones, the divisions leading goal scorer, doubled
their advantage, Matt Hattee replied for the O’s in the second half. Fulford
replace Osbaldwick at the top of the table following their 3-2 win at Thorpe, the
hosts, without a win in four, took an early lead but two goals from Danny
Penrose and one from Sam Pepper helped Fulford earn their first double of the
season. Rawcliffe extended their unbeaten run to 8 games but they had to settle
for just a point as visitors Tadcaster Magnets equalised four minutes from time
as they sides drew 1-1, earlier Danny Coulson had give Rawcliffe the lead.
The
top three sides in Division Three all hit five goals at home to collect maximum
points but a home defeat for fourth placed Civil Service has seriously dented
their promotion hopes. League Leaders Bishop Wilton fell behind to a James
Robertson goal against basement side Crayke but before the break they ensured
their unbeaten home run was extended to 15 games as they led 4-1 with goals
from Charlie Bond, Tom Knowles, Edward Donkin and Kramer Smith with Jason
Nattras adding their fifth after the break. Second placed F1 Racing also led
4-1 at the break in their home encounter with Elvington Harriers, the hosts nap
hand was shared between Rich Proctor (2) – scoring for the fifth game on the bounce
- Neil Yeowart, Andy Proctor and Jake
Murphy with Neil Alexander and Alex Martin replying for the Harriers. Third placed Barmby Moor had a ding-dong
battle with Rufforth before eventually winning 5-3, Chris Tatterton put the
home side in front but the visitors rallied with goals from Dan Whitcombe and
Ryan Williams to lead 2-1, Tatterton then added his second, Williams did
likewise for Rufforth before Jamie Sedman made it 3-3 at the break but two
goals in the final five minutes from Greg Nesbitt and Tom Gibson preserved
Barmby Moor’s unbeaten home record for the season. Civil Service, despite Josh Coulson giving the
an interval lead, lost 2-1 at home to
Ouseburn. Sporting Knavesmire ended a run of three consecutive draws as they
thumped Huby 6-0 with their tally shared between Andrew Simpson, Tom Wilson,
Scott Backhouse, Dan Smith, Ryan Gothard and Jamie Painter.
Wheldrake
ended a run of five home games without a win in Division Four as they
defeated Huntington 4-0, Ali Carroll and Ben Patchesa hit first half goals for
the home side with Niall Kirby and Jason McCleod scoring in the second half.
Three times Selby Town Reserves led at LNER Builders, initially through Olly
O’Neil, then Kie Latham and finally through Callum Roe-Dixon but on each occasion
the Builders equalised, Alex Moulton hit their first, Sam Hill, with his 25th goal of the
season, their second, and then Dean Machin converted a penalty
two minutes from time to level the game at 3-3.
In
the only game played in Reserve A, Old Malton avenged the 2-1
defeat at Copmanthorpe by beating the same opposition by the identical score at
home to chalk up their fourth straight home win. Richard Stevenson and Luke
Davis bagged for Old Malton with Ryan Partington replying for Cop.
All
the Reserve
B fixtures went in favour of the home sides. League leaders White Horse
suffered their first defeat in 11 games as they lost 2-0 at struggling
Bishopthorpe, Jamie Mackie hit both Bish goals.
The defeat sees the Church Fenton sides lead at the top of the table cut
to five points as second placed Easingwold, who also have a game in hand on the
leaders, came from a goal down at home to Heslington to win 3-2, Andrew
Metcalfe (Snr) sandwiched a Jordan Green brace for the hosts. Don Harris hit a
hat-trick as third placed Fulford kept in touch with the leading duo as they
registered a comfortable 6-1 home win over York St Johns, Steve Cooper (2) and
Joe Kanarski added Fulfords other goals. Pocklington who have games in hand on
all the leading sides, maintained their
interest in the promotion race with a 2-1 home win over Amotherby, Stu Barker
cancelled out Danny Foxton’s opening goal for the visitors with Max Himsworth
hitting Pock’s second half winner. Aviva
eased their relegation worries as they chalked up back-to-back home wins and
both without conceding a goal, as they condemned visitors Tadcaster Magnets to
their sixth away game without a win as the insurance side won 4-0 with goals
from Warren Lowe, Rob Evans and a Geoff Pinkney brace.
The
top two sides in Reserve C both recorded away victories, leaders Malton &
Norton, defending an unbeaten record for
the season, needed a exquisite free kick from Wayne Hazell to break the
deadlock in their encounter at Rowntrees, Ed Marwood then took his tally for the
season into double figures with their second as the Ryedale side won 2-0.
Second placed Selby RSSC took the honours, and the points, from their derby
game with local rivals Heminbrough but they left it late scoring twice in the
final 10 minutes through Ryan Willis and
Tommy Butterfield to swing the game in their favour 2-1, Ricky Hutton had earlier given Hemingbrough
the lead. Stamford
Bridge ended a winless
run of three games to keep in the promotion frame as Darren Branden hit the
only goal of the game as they defeated Strensall 1-0. Poppleton avenged last
weeks defeat at the hands of Wilberfoss by winning the return encounter 4-1,
despite falling behind to a Chris Allan goal. Pavel Perhac equalised for Pop
before Jack Chilton, Danny Barrett and Danny King struck in the second half for
Pop.
Reserve
D leaders Crayke
slipped to their first defeat of the season as they lost 1-0 at home to Cliffe
and to add injury to insult for Crayke,
it was an own goal that separated the sides. Civil
Service moved within four points of the leaders following their 4-2 success at
Huby, Dave Tumman put Huby in front but before the break Civil Service hit back
with goals from Joe Evans, Carl Barber
(penalty) and Mark Lund and added a fourth through Craig Coates with
Huby snatching a late goal from Jimmy Turton. Bishop Wilton struck three times
in the opening half hour at Rufforth and despite the hosts replying through Tom
Bateson and Kieran Hepworth, the
visitors held onto their advantage to end a run of four away trips without a
win, on target for the visitors were Oliver Riley and Andrew Healy (2). St Clements hit six
unanswered goals past Wheldrake, on the scoresheet for the Saints were Liam
King (2) Ben Cooper, Ricky Mizzie, Adam and Mark Harrison.
